Palestinian police have launched a campaign to ban smoking in taxies, whereas, the campaign will be unendingly, and it is broadly welcomed by all citizens in the Gaza Strip, that praised it very much, hoping to be applied in public places.
Maj. Ayman Al-Batneeji, a spokesman for Palestinian police, declared that the police began this campaign to reduce smoking in public places and maintain the health of citizens of this great danger, as well as to apply the Basic Law Article No. (11) for the year 2005, which provides for banning smoking in public places, and force who violate this article to pay a fine.
"We have prepared the plan of this campaign earlier, but it is launched at this time by an encouragement made by a number of associations and institutions such as, Muslim Young women Association, that printing awareness leaflets for drivers and citizens." Al-Batneeji said.
He also explained that the driver who violate this resolution will pay a fine (50 shekels), noting that the Palestinian police have future plans to ban smoking in public places, ministries, institutions and governmental hospitals.
Al-Batneeji added: "I think we will find a positive reaction regarding this decision, because smoking is very bad habit, as it is declined among the members of Palestinian society, because they are a conservative and religious society, and they reject this awful habit, which is prohibited in Quran and Sunnah.
Em Hassan praised this good resolution, considering that smoking in taxies bring distress to passengers and driver alike.
Also, Hanadi Al-Mallahi agreed her and said: "Smoking in taxies is a bad and awful phenomenon," hoping to apply this decision in public places because this phenomenon has caused many damages to passengers, especially if they are children, pregnant women or elderly.
