Forty Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli Negev prison have been transferred to the prison clinic after experiencing the effects of food poisoning.

The prisoners experienced diarrhea and vomiting after drinking expired milk served in the prison.

They have filed an official complaint against the prison administration. It marks the second time that prisoners were poisoned at the Negev prison in two months.

In a statement, Prisoners’ Affairs Minister Atallah Abu Sabah placed responsibility on the prison administration as well as the Israeli occupation authorities, calling the incident a “war crime against unarmed persons deprived of their liberty”.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently released statements vowing to tighten restrictions on Palestinian prisoners.

Meanwhile, the Negev prison has enforced a new dress code for all prisoners, including those in administrative detention, prisoner affairs sources quoted informed sources among the prisoners as saying.

The prisoners are now obligated to wear Israeli Prison Service uniforms when being transported anywhere outside of the prison.

The decision comes as a slap in the face to the prisoner movement, which made many efforts to circumvent wearing uniforms.

Uniforms are also not required to be worn by prisoners in administrative detention under Israeli law.
