Palestinian patients in the Gaza Strip are in danger of death due to the continued power crisis in the enclave for the second month running, Adham Abu Salmiya, the spokesman for ambulance and emergency in the Strip, said.
Abu Salmiya told a press conference on Wednesday that the health sector in Gaza was the most affected sector in the ongoing power and fuel crisis.
He said that 36 ambulance cars and 15 medical services vehicles were crippled due to lack of fuel, adding that there was big difficulty in transferring sick people to hospitals, which endangered their lives.
The health official said that 100 newborn babies were in danger of death as their incubators were not functioning round the clock due to the repeated power outages.
Abu Salmiya pointed out that 168 kinds of medicine were out of stock in addition to 200 medical consumables, which threaten the life of cancer, kidney, and heart patients.
