The Palestinian Minister of Local Government in Gaza Dr. Youssef Mansy affirmed that the continuous power outage and the crisis caused by the lack of fuel resulted in the suspension of many of the services provided by his ministry.

He said in a press statement that the crisis can seriously threaten the environment, the health and the lives of citizens, and can cause pollution in Gaza Strip and its neighbors.

Mansy said that there are many residential areas and neighborhoods with no running water for more than ten days since it is difficult to pump water to their homes.

He noted that because of the continuous power outages and fuel shortages, sewage treatment plants and water pumps were disrupted.

The minister said, "The fuel shortages affected the construction sector as well as the environment and caused serious problems such as power failure, which caused accidents, most recently the loss of three innocent children in a fire in the central province."

Mansy stated, "We addressed multiple appeals for solving this crisis but to no avail so far. However, many countries promised to provide assistance to alleviate the crisis”.
