Dr. Bassem Naim, Minister of Health, has declared the state of emergency in all hospitals in the Gaza Strip because of the electricity crisis and the severe shortage of medicines and medical supplies.
Dr. Naim confirmed that the power outages in the Gaza Strip led to complete paralysis in all aspects of life, specially the health sector.
He explained that the power outages means an increase of sick cases in all healthy and unhealthy sections.
Dr. Naim also affirmed that the Palestinian patients in the Gaza Strip are living these days the most difficult days of siege, warning of a humanitarian disaster in the health sector.
Moreover, Naim said that all our health services are threatened to stop in the coming hours by the worsening of fuel crisis of and continued power cuts for more than 12 hours a day.
Dr. Naim All institutions that concerned of health sector to take immediate actions to save the situation, holding the government in Ramallah full responsibilities for the humanitarian situation and health in Gaza.
In the same context, Ashraf Al-Qedreh, spokesman for Ministry of Health, "Many health services are threatened to stop due to the power cuts for more than 12 hours a day, that simultaneous with the shortage of daily supply of diesel to run generators in the hospitals and primary care centers, which requires about (6000 to 8000) liters a day. "
He stressed that thirty-nine operations room in all over the Gaza Strip's hospitals are threatened to stop in the coming days if the crisis continues.
