Eng. Ihab Al-Ghusain, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry, said: "The Palestinian government has set up a joint committee of the Ministry of Economy, police, Investigation of Supply and several officials; to prosecute monopolists of fuel and goods, denying the accusations that accuse the government of using fuel in their favor.
Al-Ghusain confirmed in a press release to "Safa news agency" that the accusations aimed to exploit the current conditions for selling fuel at high prices on the market by the owners of some service stations, pointing out that the arrangements are under way with the General Petroleum Corporation to follow up the crisis.
He pointed to the Ministry of Interior controlled during the last ten days a number of service stations that monopolize fuel, and the commission forced them to sell it to citizens, stressing that the Interior Ministry will not allow them to exploit the citizens. Therefore, Al-Ghusain called on the citizens to report any service station that monopolize fuel and sell it at high prices.
Al-Ghusain showed that the Interior Ministry will take a number of legal procedures in the event of detection of the monopoly of fuel, explaining the monopolists of fuel will be punished.
Moreover, the spokesman for the Interior Ministry will punish anyone broadcast rumors among the citizens, noting that some taxi drivers are broadcasting lies and rumors. "
The Interior Ministry announced the number 0595914491 to call and report on any monopolists and exploiters, urging citizens to call for reporting traders who monopolize and exploit fuel.
The Interior Ministry also confirmed since the beginning of the crisis the monopolists are being pursued, noting that tens of monopolists are arrested, and legal actions against them are taken."
It is worth mentioning that the Gaza Strip has suffered for more than forty days from the fuel crisis and constant cut off electricity, that led to the disruption of transport movement and stop the most vital installations operating in the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian government in Gaza announced earlier that it turned 2 million $ to the Egyptian authorities to convert the fuel to the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing.
