Acting speaker of the Palestinian legislative council (PLC) Dr. Ahmed Bahar has called for resuming sessions in the PLC premises in the West Bank in response to the Israeli detention of speaker Dr. Aziz Dweik.

In a press release on Monday, Bahar urged Fatah-controlled PA in Ramallah to allow the resumption of PLC sessions and enable Hamas MPs to assume their responsibilities.

He condemned the Israeli occupation authority for holding Dweik in administrative custody for six months, and urged Arab, Islamic, and international parliaments to adopt a serious, historic position against the Israeli targeting of Palestinian MPs.
