The Sawasia center for human rights has warned of health and environment disasters in the Gaza Strip due to the electricity crisis.

It urged all parties concerned, in a press release on Wednesday, to shelve political wrangling when it comes to humanitarian issues.

The center said that the Strip was facing difficult living conditions due to the complete stoppage of the Gaza electricity company after necessary equipment and fuel to operate the sole power station in the Strip were denied entry into the enclave.

The electricity outage would lead to catastrophic results on various service sectors such as water, sewage, and health centers, it warned.

The center asked the world community, the UN, and human rights groups to immediately intervene and pressure the Israeli occupation authority into allowing entry of necessary equipment to maintain the power grid along with fuel and other humanitarian necessities.

It also recommended linking Gaza electricity to the Egyptian network to ease the crisis.
