Palestinian premier Ismail Haneyya urged Palestinian businessmen and economic experts to embark on drawing up plans for a joint free zone between Egypt and Gaza.
Premier Haneyya made his remarks on Sunday during a national meeting for unity and reconciliation organized in Gaza by both the coordinating committee of the private sector, and the Palestinian businessmen association.
In his speech, Haneyya also called for starting to prepare for the international business conference to be held in Gaza.
The premier pointed out that during his recent visit to Egypt, Egyptian officials approved his suggestion to establish a free zone with Gaza in the Egyptian side of Rafah border area.
He also said he highlighted during his meeting with Egyptian officials the issue of Gaza power crisis in Gaza and the need to feed Gaza with 50 percent of its electricity needs from Egypt, and noted there would be a coming meeting between the power authorities in Gaza and Egypt to discuss this issue.
