Gaza / Interior Ministry
Mr. Ayman Ayesh, director of research and studies at the Ministry of Interior, confirmed -during a seminar held by the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights entitled (the right of establishing associations in the territories of the Palestinian Authority) in Gaza City- that the door is open by the Ministry of Interior for those who wish to exercise the civil work.
Ayesh noted in his speech that the number of registered associations since the fifties to 2006 is 550 associations, while the Ministry of Interior registered from the beginning of 2006 until now approximately 800 associations.
Regarding the foreign NGOs, Ayesh explained that the Ministry of Interior registered 43 foreign associations from the beginning of 2006 so far, stressing that the ministry provided an opportunity for this sector.
Ayesh added: "The Ministry of Interior developed a systematic and strategic plan on the exercise of law in the sector of civil work. Whereas, the security services should not intervene in the civil institutions and reduce these abuses."
Accordingly, Ayesh made several observations on the report which issued by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights on Palestinian violations of the right of establishing associations in the territories of the Palestinian Authority. The report needs to balance, which abridged what is related to the West Bank, and elaborated with regard to Gaza.
He stressed that the report relied on the party that is violated, adding: "This requires a quest to know the opinions of others even to ascertain the truth."
Ayesh also demanded that the report should be broader and deeper, pointing out that some associations violate the right of establishing associations, adding: "More than 90% of the results of election are acclamation, and this means there is no real elections.
