The Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon on the need to stoping the Israeli occupation for the Arab and Palestinian territories, as well as for settlement, which stressed that it is illegal.
Ki-moon said during the opening ceremony of the conference on "democracy" in Beirut Sunday that "the settlements hinder the building of two states, a Palestinian state living side by side with the Israeli state," calling for spending efforts to achieve a lasting peace.
He added ,"We believe the future of freedom and dignity", calling on state leaders to listen to what their people look to him, on his way to the Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad saing, "Stop killing and violence and killing of your people"
He considered that the democracy is not easy and it needs time and required effort to build.
He pointed out that the Lebanese people want real change and have a right to rule of law, and the power should to be of civil society through efficiency and accountability, stressing on the importance of public d and comprehensive ialogue.
Ki-moon called to defuse the sectarian conflicts and the establishment of human rights, stressing the need to protect the rights of minorities.
