90 thousand visitors to archaeological sites in Gaza

Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities confirmed that the archaeological sites in the Gaza Strip witnessed during 2011 unprecedented demand by the various categories of the Palestinian people.
 

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Mohammed Khela pointed out that the ministry's statistic for the visitors of archaeological sites recorded the highest percentage compared with previous years, which amounted in 2011 alone, more than 90 thousand visitors divided between the various categories of the Palestinian people.
 

Khela showed that the Gaza Strip contains many important archaeological sites, that highlight the cultural pages of the history of the Palestinian people.
 

Moreover, he pointed out that the ministry is going according to strategical plan to preserve all the archaeological sites; in order to increase awareness of these sites and instilled in the minds of the citizens.
 

Accordingly, Khela asserted that the ministry has developed several projects to develop these sites and promote its cultural role, such as adding some exhibitions, calling on all citizens to visit those sites.
