Israeli forces detain 8 in West Bank

Israeli forces have arrested eight people on Monday, Palestinian police and the Israeli army said.

Three of the men arrested were affiliated to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Witnesses said  that Husam Al-Ruzza, 54, Mahir Harb and Hasan Shilbaya were detained from the city of Nablus and Balata refugee camp after soldiers stormed the area.

All were local leaders and activists in the leftist Palestinian faction, locals said.

Soldiers also entered Beit Rima village northwest of Ramallah and detained Muhammad Atta Atiya Rimawi, 24.

Brothers Fadi, 32, and Alaa Muhammad Younis Shoshai, 24, were detained from Husan village West of Bethlehem while soldiers entered Hebron's Old City late Sunday and detained Khaldoun Saleh Shahin, 20, and Faraj al-Karki, 16, a Ma'an correspondent said.

An Israel army spokeswoman said 9 people had been arrested on Monday for security questioning, five in the Bethlehem/Hebron area and four in Nablus.
