The Israeli ministry of war approved two plans to build 119 housing units in Shiloh settlement to the north of Ramallah city.

Yedioth Ahronoth website said these plans were endorsed in response to a petition filed eight months ago by the movement Peace Now with the Israeli higher court against the building of 40 housing units in this settlement.

The office of Israeli war minister Ehud Barak claimed, according to Ahronoth, the housing units that were approved in Shiloh were related to the status quo and that any new units need new permits.

Peace Now had stated in its petition that the building of the 40 units was illegal and not part of the original layout of the area.

The office of Barak added that the war ministry decided to legalize all buildings in Shiloh settlement retroactively, including the aforementioned two new plans.

In case these two plans were carried out, Shiloh settlement, composed of 195 housing units plus mobile homes, would expand by 60 percent.
