An Israeli envoy arrived in Cairo on Sunday aboard a private plane to discuss the second stage of the Egyptian-brokered Hamas-Israel prisoners’ exchange deal, the German news agency DPA said.
It quoted Egyptian well informed sources at the airport as saying that the envoy arrived in a previously unannounced visit, and that he would meet with a number of Egyptian security officials.
The agency said that the envoy would discuss the possibility of concluding another exchange deal by which Israeli spy Oda Tarabin would be released from Egyptian jail in return for the freedom of a number of Egyptian prisoners in Israel.
It said that the discussions would also tackle Egyptian gas exports to Israel and tightening protection of the Israeli embassy in Cairo and security along the borders with Israel.
