Israeli Interior Minister Eli Yishai has approved constructing 4,300 new housing units in some neighborhoods of the occupied Jerusalem.

The Israeli public radio reported on Thursday that under this plan, 2,000 residential units in the neighborhood of "Givat Hamtos" south of Jerusalem, 1,600 units in the neighborhood of "Ramat Shlomo" northern Jerusalem, and 700 units in the neighborhood of "Pisgat Ze'ev" will be built.

It pointed out that these projects are approved, despite criticisms which said by the United States in the past to the government because of its intention to establish new housing units in neighborhoods located behind the occupied territories 1948.

Sources close to Yishai said that he believes that the implementation of these projects is part of efforts which made to resolve the housing problems in the Israeli entity.
