Gaza-Interior Ministry
In June 1 , 2011 the Residences and Foreigners Affairs Department in the Ministry of Interior was organized the entry and residence of foreigners in the Gaza Strip .
According to the decision of the Palestinian cabinet in Gaza of the session number (195) held in 8, March 2011 , the ministry decided the mechanism of regulating the entry and stay of foreign visitors in the Gaza Strip within a coordination among all concerned parties .
A report issued by the General Administration of residences and Foreigners Affairs showed that it had completed (110 treatments) for the entry of foreigners since the beginning of last June.
Regarding the decision , it is allowing for foreigners to enter the Gaza Strip through the Ministry of the Interior, in a coordination with their host institutions, or foreigners wishing to enter the Gaza Strip without any prior invitation from any institution.
The institutions working inside the Gaza Strip provide direct applications to the general administration of residences and foreign affairs in the Ministry of Interior when they need to bring in foreign visitor.
The report said that international institutions working in the Gaza Strip and visitors to the government in Gaza and wants to visit the Gaza Strip and has no sponsor in the Gaza Strip , they should coordinate directly with the Ministry of Interior , then the Ministry decided to agree the applications or not .
The same report noted that the printing applications will be through electronic website in the Ministry of Interior to see by the foreign visitor before he went to the Gaza Strip, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior .
A report issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs in the Ministry of Interior , showed that who want to obtain a temporary residence in order to remain in Gaza for more than a week and less than three months and end of this temporary residency as soon as his left the strip.
Also , the report assured that the obtain of an annual stay for those who wish to remain in Gaza for more than three months and allow them to enter and exit to and from the Gaza Strip by this card.
" The dealing with the host institutions through a delegate reviews the General Department of Foreign Affairs and residencies as a civilian management in the Ministry of Interior - Civil aspect is the implementation of the proposed actions are computerized and linked with the crossings, which speeds up the time of effectuation and reduce effort." , the report added .
It is noted that the application of these mechanisms applied on the all foreign visitors except the staff of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees "UNRWA" in the first phase; that the agency provide the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Ministry of the Interior directly with a list of staff wishing to enter the Gaza Strip, and they are communicating with, "UNRWA" in this regard by the governmental Committee.
