Human Rights Unit at Interior Ministry deplores worsening conditions for prisoners in Israeli jails

Mr. Hossam Al-Refi, director of Public Relations of Human Rights Unit at Interior Ministry, confirmed that the unit makes serious and continuous contacts with local and international human rights institutions to pressure on the Israeli occupation; in order to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, who suffer from significant deterioration in their humanity, and to activate their issue internationally.

 

In response to the signing of certain local human rights institutions on a joint statement with the Israeli organizations demanding to release Shalit, Al-Refi said: "We have 11 thousand prisoners in the Israeli prisons, who have been tortured. "

 

Human Rights Unit has warned in a statement of the deteriorating conditions of Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails, whereas, the Israeli authorities use different methods of punishment against them.

 

The statement pointed out that half of detainees in the Israeli prisons are staying in a desert prisons.

 

Human Rights Unit at Interior Ministrycalled all human rights and international organizations and bodies for providing a life consistent with international law and international humanitarian law and protocols of human rights, and it called on all mass media, especially satellite channels to activate the issue of Palestinian prisoners and highlight their suffering.
