Dr. Atef Al-Kahlout , The Director of Medical Services in the Gaza Strip, has announced the stopping of surgical operations completely in the hospitals of medical services during a period not exceeding 48 hours , because of the lack of medicines .
Al-Kahlout said in a press statement on Monday 13/6/2011, that this decision came after a full run out of medicines and medical consumables in the medical services, which estimated with 180 kinds of medicines zero balance in the strip ,in addition to 200 items of medical disposables.
Al-Kahlout called the international community and humanitarian organizations to the need for urgent intervention to save the humanitarian situation in the strip, "because we are moving every day to a real humanitarian catastrophe", also he called the health of Ramallah to the need of sending medicines for Gaza strip hospitals immediately.
