Swiss prepares a project to end blockade and open border crossings

Swiss President has announced that her country prepares to integrate project aimed at ending the siege imposed on Gaza Strip for the fifth consecutive year, based on opening all border crossings with Gaza Strip.

 

Micheline Calmy - Rey , who is also in the position of Secretary of State , said during  her meeting with  high-level delegation from Palestinian Europe's Council: The " Switzerland is currently preparing an integrated project aims to open the land border crossings with Gaza Strip, including Rafah crossing completely."

 

She continued: "In case of approval of the Egyptian government to allow entering materials and goods through Rafah crossing ; we are ready to repair it ."

 

 

During the meeting, they discuss developments of the Palestinian issue, in particular the lifting siege of Gaza, as well as Switzerland's role in supporting democratic movements in the Middle East , peace and justice in Palestine.

 

On the other hand ; Head of the British delegation , Lord Andrew Phillips , said that the intransigence of Israel and the practices of occupation, "comes as a direct result of the lack of international action against such practices, in particular international humanitarian law and they need to move in that direction."

 

Phillips added, "The international community must do its part to stop the continuous attacks on the Palestinian people and their land, especially Tel Aviv understand that the silence on these attacks as a green light to commit more attacks that leave dozens of victims."

 

Notably , that Gaza strip witnesses a shortage in the most important tools since imposed siege on Gaza strip four years ago .
