"How To Change The World" .. Social Websites Play Vital Role In Expressing Public Opinion Freely

We do not exaggerate if we say that social websites and blogging through the internet and new means of communication media added a diversity to the peoples' life in an unprecedented way. Why Not??! It enables millions around the world to see multifarious information in seconds and update or exchange it by using a real name or an alias.

 

It seems that the Arab youth consider that the Internet as the best way to express their opinion and achieve their goals through social websites, such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, taking into consideration the Egyptian and Tunisian revaluations as a glaring example of the success of these methods in achieving the goals.

 

Those social websites have raised questions about the role which played in the revolutions of peoples in many Arab countries in the recent times. Whereas, it used by activists to transfer the images of protests, dead and wounded people in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya recently, until it became a obsession to make more revolutions in other countries due to its use in calling to protests and sit-ins and its time and location.


It is noteworthy that the popular social website "Facebook" takes a position in those social websites, which now has a significant impact on the world public opinion.

 

Despite accusations that chase these websites, which violate and spy on the personal data for users, its authority is growing day by day, and evidence is increasing the number of users of "Facebook", which reached 250 million users around the world.


Huda Skaik, 27, an English translator, confirmed that thesocial websites, as Twitter and Facebook one of modern to interact and exchange ideas and express political and social opinions freely without restrictions.

 

"I agree with these social websites which have played an active and essential role in supporting the communication especially the recent events that occurred in some Arab countries such as Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya." she said.

 

"In my point of view that increasing of number of Facebook's users in the Gaza Strip is considered as a positive indicator, as the number of users and interested in their issue to live safely and peacefully.
Fatma Omar, 26, said: "The social websites are a double edged sword, that considered a large social networks to express ideas and views of peoples in the world, and we have seen its positive impact to allow peoples liberate their countries from corruption."

 

"On the other hand, some reckless use these social websites for bad purposes, such as defamation, scandal and other negative purposes." Fatma added.
Concerning the increased number of Facebook's users in the Gaza Strip, she considered it a positive indicator, and she said: "I call on all concerned people to warn users of these websites, which occasionally have bad and negative aspects."


Hanadi Mater, 25, a French translator, said: "These social websites allow young people to express their opinions and ideas without restrictions."

 

She agreed with these websites, which is considered an effective means in Arab societies, that have suffered from repression and oppression.
"These Palestinian figures are a positive sign if it used to obtain freedom and unity and resist the occupation by mobilizing world opinion against the continuing crimes that committed in most of Arab countries." Hanadi added.
