Maj. Ayman Al-Batneeji, director of Information Office of Palestinian police, said: " police had already begun to take the necessary actions and form a commission of inquiry into abuses against a number of journalists."
Al-Batneeji confirmed that many members of security forces who have committed these violations were arrested, explaining that the investigation was still ongoing and all abusers will be held responsible, and there is intensive follow-up by the Minister of Interior regarding this file.
Whereas, a delegation from General Directorate of Public Relations and Information at Ministry of Interior visited on Sunday evening (20-3) a number of media institutions based on instructions from Mr. Fathi Hammad, Minister of Interior and National Security.
The delegation comprised of Maj. Ayman Al-Batneeji, Mr. Ali Al-Nabulsiya and Mr. Hani Al-Dali.
The visit included the office of Associated Press, Al Hurra television channel, Future channel and Gaza Centre for Press.
Al-Batneeji said: "Policeman should be conscious of the role of Palestinian journalist to highlight the important issues of our homeland."
On the other hand, Al-Nabulsiya affirmed that the Interior Minister gave instructions to implement all demands of journalists and provide legal freedom for them as what has been agreed with them during their meeting on Saturday (19-3).
Al-Nabulsiya pointed out to the freedom of expression that experienced by the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, particularly journalists.
Furthermore, Al-Dali said, "We have to cooperate in order to highlight national issues that enhance our people's steadfastness and their great role to confront the occupation."
Accordingly, Al-Dali called journalists and media institutions to overcome this crisis, stressing that it should not affect on their strong relationship with Ministry of Interior.
It is worth mentioning that delegation of Interior Ministry is going to complete visits other media organizations and journalists today.
