Gaza– Interior Ministry
Minister of Interior and National Security Mr. Fathi Hammad met on Saturday afternoon (19/3) with a delegation of journalists, Government Information Office and Information Office of Hamas to discuss some problems that occurred with some journalists and media offices yesterday afternoon.
Hammad said, during a meeting with journalists in principle of freedom of opinion and expression and freedom of press and media work.
Minister of Interior has issued instructions that prevent break in or enter
any information office or press and media institution only according to rules, and he called to return any tools that were confiscated from journalists and end the situation of field tension with journalists and media offices.
Mr. Hammad assigned to Information Office of Interior Ministry in cooperation with Government Information Office to form a delegation to visit the journalists who had complained because of abusing them.
Also, journalists, who attended the meeting, confirmed on the cooperative relationship between the Palestinian government and Ministry of Interior and all media.
Accordingly, Minister of Interior demanded to open a prompt investigation in all complaints which made by journalists and both governmental and non-governmental media organizations and news agencies.
It is worth mentioning that journalists who participated in the meeting were: Shuhdi Al-Kashif, BBC correspondent in the Gaza Strip, Nidal Al-Mughrabi, director of Reuters news agency's office in Gaza, Imad Al-Efranji, director of Al-Quds Space Channel's office in Palestine, Hanan Al-Masri, correspondent of Arabiya TV, Saleh Al-Masri, Emad Al-Darimeli and Marwan Al-Ghoul.
