Ministry of Interior releases 62 convicts in Gaza prison

Palestinian Ministry of Interior and National Security has released on Saturday morning 62 criminal and security convicts in Gaza Central Prison.

 
Ayman Al-Batneeji, spokesman for Palestinian police, declared that the release of those detainees was done according to Palestinian Legislative Council's demand and Minister of Interior Mr. Fathi Hammad's resolution, within the activities of "citizen service campaign" which launched by Ministry of Interior last week.

 

Al-Batneeji said: "The release included a number of convicts who have served two thirds of their sentences for criminal and security lawsuits."

 
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Kamel Abu Madi, Undersecretary of Interior Ministry, chairman of citizen service campaign lieutenant colonel Nasir Sulaiman, lieutenant colonel Moataz Al-Khalidi and a group of police officers.

 

Abu Madi confirmed the Palestinian Police Service is an important part of the Palestinian society, and he said to the detainees: "You should put an end to the erroneous and invalid behavior."

 

Therefore, all released detainees thanked the Ministry of Interior and Palestinian government for their release, promising Allah and home to be good builders in their community.
