Gaza – Interior Ministry
When you walk in the Gaza Strip's streets during the early days of the end of Gaza war which launched by the Israeli enemy on the Gaza Strip in 2008, and see the massive destruction in the headquarters and institutions of security agencies and Ministry of Interior, you stand to wonder how we will build and reconstruct what was destroyed due to the siege, lack of funds and raw materials?
Eng. Khalid Al-Radeea, director of engineering office for Ministry of Interior, was questioned that question when the engineering office was established in June 2009.
Al-Radeea says, "I wonder how we can reconstruct that massive destruction, and we have few fundamentals? But have worked hard, done our best and cooperated to rebuild what was destroyed in the Gaza Strip"
He pointed out that the task of engineering office based on restoring and rebuilding the headquarters of Interior Ministry, providing the engineering services and implementing various projects according to technical specifications.
Al-Radeea explained the suffering that faced during the implementation of their plan, whereas, the Israeli siege is considered as the first and fundamental obstacle, showing that the raw materials for construction were expensive and lack of governmental funding because of blockade.
He emphasized that these obstacles did not stand as a barrier in front of the engineering office and said, "We started thinking about other solutions, whereas, we used the bases of destroyed buildings and used iron which extracted from the destroyed buildings, as did in the building of Al-Shata'a and Al-Zaytoun police stations."
Al-Radeea praised the cooperation in the reconstruction process with all departments of Interior Ministry.
"We also thank the cooperation of our brothers in Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Public Works for their support, and Ministry of Labor." He added.
Concerning the Interior Ministry's achievements during the past two years, Al-Radeea said: "We have made great achievements, and we were able today to shelter and accommodate 85% of security services' members."
Regarding the ambitions of director of engineering office, Al-Radeea said: "Our ambition is to break the siege on the Gaza Strip because it is the most important obstacle in the reconstruction process, as we hope to accomplish the reconstruction plan in a short time until we begin many major projects. "
Al-Radeea: We have a lot of achievements in reconstruction of Gaza Strip and Israeli blockade is the most important obstacle to us
