Eng. Ihab Al-Ghusain, spokesman for Ministry of Interior, confirmed that the role of Interior Ministry now is protecting the Palestinian consensus, strengthening their steadfastness and arranging the field status in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Ghusain said to Ministry of Interior's website: "There was a letter from Egypt included that the Israeli occupation threatens military escalation in Gaza if rockets are still fired, so, he called on the Palestinian government headed by Ismail Haniyeh to meet with leaders of security agencies and consultants of Interior Ministry to protect the Palestinian consensus and control the field situation; in order to avoid the Palestinian people a new aggression on Gaza. "
Spokesman for Ministry of Interior showed that "there is a Palestinian consensus since long time in the Gaza Strip to give the Palestinian people an opportunity to take comfort, as well as to give the resistance an enough period to be ready to confront any Israeli aggression. "
Al-Ghusain has asserted that this agreement will be achieved by the efforts of Palestinian government through contacting with Arab and international authorities; to clarify the position of Palestinian people.
He also said: "Although the Israeli occupation assaults the Palestinian people and kills the Palestinians, it did not want to escalate or launch a war."
In response to a question about the continued threats of Israeli occupation to launch a new aggression, Al-Ghusain asserted that the Palestinian factions in this stage will continue to control the situation.
