MP Al Ashkar: Visit of Joma'a to Gaza prison belies Fatah's claims

MP Ismail Al Ashkar, vice-head of change and reform bloc in the Legislative Council, has demanded Fatah MP Ashraf Joma'a to unsay his recent statements that there are hunger strikers in Gaza jails and to open the prisons of the West Bank and allow Hamas MPs to visit prisons and check on the lives of hundreds political prisoners.

 

MP Al Ashkar confirmed in a statement on Monday evening that he accompanied Ashraf Joma'a and Eng. Ihab Al-Ghusain during their visit to Gaza Central Prison, and he wandered between the rooms of arrested for committing criminal and security misdemeanors and met with a number of detainees, whereas, Fatah claimed that they are hunger strikers.

 
Al Ashkar stressed that this visit was made "to refute all allegations and lies which are propagated by Fatah and Independent Commission for Human Rights," affirming that the visit will be broadcasted on all mass media to confirm the veracity of Ministry of Interior in the Palestinian government in Gaza and all human rights organizations that visited Gaza prison recently.

 

He also extended thanks and appreciation to Minister of Interior and National Security Mr. Fathi Hammad for his immediate response to facilitate the visit of Fatah MP Ashraf Joma'a to the center of reform and rehabilitation, who praised theprofessionalism of Interior Ministry.
