Palestinian Ministry of Interior and National Security has criticized a report issued by Independent Commission for Human Rights, which said that six prisoners in the Gaza Strip's jails are hunger strikers and their conditions are dangerous.

Therefore, Ministry of Interior considered in a press statement on Saturday that the Independent Commission lacked the legal capacity, noting that all human rights organizations work freely in the Gaza Strip and visit the prison daily.

Whereas, the Independent Commission claimed that Interior Ministry refused to allow it to visit the Gaza prisoners, and it published a report including Fatah members, who are being detained in Gaza.

1 - Zaki Rashad Al- Deen Al-Sakani, who has been detained since 2/8/2008.

2 - Nael Jamal Fahmy Harb, who has been detained since 13/12/2007, sentenced to life imprisonment.

3 - Shadi Khadr Ahmed, who has been detained since 5/8/2007, sentenced to death.

4 - Hassan Mohammad Hassan Al-Zant, who has been detained since 20/1/2008, sentenced to life imprisonment.

5 - Mohamed Khalil Ibrahim Kahil, who has been detained since 13/1/2008, sentenced for 12 years.

6 - Jamil Zakariya Jaber Juha, who has been detained since 8/17/2008, sentenced to death.

It was mentioned that Ministry of Interior has allowed human rights organizations, such as Al-Dameer and Al-Mezan for human rights to visit the prison and meet with prisoners, whose names were above-mentioned, and they recognize that those six prisoners committed murder or planned to assassinate leaders in the Gaza Strip.

The Independent Commission for Human Rights claimed that it is concerned about the status of those six detainees at Center of Rehabilitation and Reform, alleging that they engaged in a hunger strike, while the Ministry of Interior has denied this claim and confirmed that the six detainees are accused of committing various crimes in the Gaza Strip.

Independent Commission on Human Rights was established by a decree issued by the Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat in early nineties.
