The Palestinian Prime Minister, Ismail Haneyya, renewed his call for national unity and the importance of achieving reconciliation and ending the state of division in the Palestinian street.

He stressed that they [Hamas] were going ahead with the reconciliation efforts despite what he called “setbacks and being tied to the US agenda,” in reference to Fatah’s decisions being tied to US approval.

Haneyya made his call during the Eid sermon which he gave at the Palestine Stadium in Gaza City on Tuesday morning where he lead the Eid prayers.

He greeted the martyrs, captives and the wounded and their families calling on the Palestinian people for more unity within their ranks and to show solidarity with the families of martyrs, captives and wounded Palestinians.

He commended a campaign by Hamas in the run up to Eid al-Adha which aimed at enhancing social ties within the Palestinian society and tried to reach those who are vulnerable.

He also commended a campaign by the Palestinian police under the motto “dignity for citizens and respect for the law” which is being carried out by the Palestinian Ministry of Interior stressing that the campaign was producing very good results.

He thanked the people for cooperating with both campaigns and called for the good work to continue and improve.
