Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails are getting prepared to go on hunger strike that will gradually extend to include all prisoners in an attempt to pressure the prison administrations to improve their incarceration conditions, especially in the areas of health, education and family visits.

The hunger strike will be organized under the name of Al-Furqan battle, according to head of the higher committee of Hamas prisoners Yehya Sinwar who sent a letter from his cell to other prisoners in this regard.

Sinwar noted that the hunger strike is not politically motivated and has nothing to do with the prisoner swap deal, but it is related to the suffering of prisoners in Israeli jails.

He pointed out that the demands of hunger strikers are concentrated in ending the solitary confinement of prisoners, solving the problems of family visits, female detainees and children in Israeli jails as well as other problems related to health, education, punitive measures and different aspects of life in prison.

He explained that in the first week, 50 prisoners from various jails will participate in the hunger strike before they will be joined by another 100 prisoners in the second week and later in the next weeks by more prisoners until the Israeli prison authorities respond to their just demands.
