A Palestinian worker from Al-Khalil was shot and killed Sunday morning by the Israeli army near the occupied city of Jerusalem. Sources said Izz al-Din Kawaziya, 37, from the West Bank city of Al-Khalil, who was father of six, was killed after an Israeli soldier in Jerusalem shot him for allegedly trying to sneak into 1948 occupied Palestine.
The Israeli soldier who shot him said Kawaziya tried to steal his weapon and assault him during a chase, when a bullet inadvertently shot off and killed the victim instantly. According to Israeli channel 10 news, Israeli forces were in pursuit of some 15 Palestinians during an attempt by them to jump over the apartheid wall between the French dome and the Maale Adumim settlement in Jerusalem. In separate incidents, Israeli occupation forces arrested at dawn Sunday three Palestinians from the cities of Al-Khalil and Ramallah and took them to unknown destinations. The IOF set up a roadblock at the Dura gateway near Al-Khalil and detained dozens of young men. Two of the men were blindfolded and cuffed and placed in a military jeep. Soldiers provocatively searched vehicles belonging to Palestinians while en route to their jobs and schools. IOF soldiers carried out a raid and search campaign against villages in Ramallah and Bethlehem using maps and cameras.
